Business evening offers valuable insight into opportunities with India

Northland business leaders interested in capitalising on New Zealand’s recent free trade agreement with India were invited to make practical connections with Indian businesses based here and abroad at an event held in Dargaville, last week (Tuesday 25 August).

Kaipara District Council Mayor, Jonathan Larsen, alongside the Consulate General of India in Auckland and Northland NZ (NNZ), welcomed local business leaders who took the opportunity to strengthen trade and business links with one of the world's fastest-growing markets.

"Kaipara may be a small district, but we think big when it comes to building relationships, and some of the greatest opportunities for economic development and growth start with a conversation. It was a privilege to welcome representatives from the Indian Consulate and across Northland to Dargaville to share ideas, make connections and explore how we can work together," said Mayor Larsen.

Guest speakers, Mayor Larsen and Consul General Dr Madan Mohan Sethi joined innovation and trading experts based in India to highlight emerging opportunities across manufacturing, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, aviation and aerospace, technology and innovation, sustainability and infrastructure. Other speakers included those already doing business with India, who shared their real-world insights into navigating India’s business culture and bureaucracy.

NNZ Chief Executive, Paul Linton, emceed the networking evening which was also supported by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise and the Employment and Manufacturers Union. NNZ is Northland’s economic development and tourism agency.

The Consulate General of India in Auckland provides consular services for Indian citizens and the Indian community living in the Auckland, Waikato, and Northland regions of New Zealand.
