I am originally from the Manawatu but spent my working career as a hotelier, working in National Parks across New Zealand, Australia, and in the Pacific Islands including Samoa and the Cook Islands.

My background is in tourism, managing resort hotels and tourism activities including overseeing major new and rebuild projects, including ten years as Deputy Chief Executive of the Tourist Hotel Corporation. I have wide experience in contract negotiations, industrial relations and a strong food & beverage background.

I have been known to fish regularly - why do I live in The Bay of Islands? I am also a Justice of the Peace and have been a marriage celebrant for several decades. My other passions include making jams, jellies, chutneys, relishes and growing things.
