Whangārei: Silver Festival

This Festival is an opportunity for seniors to explore what’s available in the Whangārei District: to try something new, connect, make new friends, be active, get creative and, most importantly, have fun!

Tai Tokerau Timebank and EcoSolutions are once again partnering for this event being held in He Awhi Rito, Whangārei's Envirohub on First Avenue.

We are offering event visitors the opportunity to join Timebank members for afternoon tea to learn the benefits of being a Timebank member. Membership only costs $6 a year!

Tai Tokerau Timebank in Whangārei is a membership initiative where TIME is our 'currency'. It's a community of people who support each other through sharing their knowledge, skills and services, without exchanging money. Where everyone’s time is equal regardless of the type of exchange: 1hr = 1 time credit.

Timebank re-defines work by valuing your time instead of money. As a member you get to enjoy building supportive and enriching relationships with other Timebankers, their friends and whānau; have access to our workshops, community gardens and events that support more resilient communities. All exchanges of time between members, earn you time credits, which you can then exchange with another member who is offering the help you need. This might be garden work, dog walking, a lift, computer help, a massage, shopping or even an item that you need, the list is endless.

EcoSolutions will be running a “Recycling Basics & DIY Household Cleaners” info session at the same time.

By combining these two organisations with a social gathering for members, we are creating a relaxed, friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
