Lessons from the World of AI - Trips and Traps
Guest speaker: Dr Maggie Buxton - Awhiworld
What do you need to be aware of as you navigate your way into an AI world?
Dr Maggie Buxton founded Awhiworld in 2014 to integrate her mainstream development and social innovation practice with her interest in emerging, reality-bending technologies. With more than 30 years’ experience in professional and organisational development, she leads projects that bring together science, art, systems thinking and emerging technologies to build capability initiatives for iwi, community organisations and government partners.
Over the past two years, Awhiworld has delivered workshops and sessions for businesses, not-for-profits, leaders, creatives and community groups across Aotearoa. Since 2023, nearly 2,000 people have taken part in this work, exploring what AI means for their organisations and how to use it in practical, thoughtful and values-aligned ways.
Based in Whangārei since 2017, Maggie brings a grounded Northland perspective to conversations about emerging technology and business. She is passionate about creating spaces where people can make sense of new tools, ask good questions and consider what responsible use looks like for their work and their brand.
We’re delighted to welcome Maggie to our March event to share observations from this work. She’ll speak to what she’s noticing as organisations begin experimenting with AI, where the opportunities and tensions are emerging, and what this means for business owners right now.
Join us and guest speaker Dr Maggie Buxton this month, for: ** An increase your awareness of using AI tactically, both personally and professionally ** A reminder of how to think about AI strategically in your business ** Ideas on how to embrace AI with integrity and alignment with your business brand
