Unfolding Ideas - A Toni Hartill Workshop (2-Days)

Whats On

An introduction to artist’s books and sculptural structures, with a focus on repurposing old artwork and taking your printmaking into three dimensions!

We will begin with an introduction to the concept of artist’s books as a form of artistic expression and create a series of simple folded structure models as a starting point for generating ideas and future development. We will also explore ways in which your printmaking (or any paper-based artwork) can be transformed into sculptural forms, focusing on techniques you can use to repurpose old or rejected prints or artworks to give them new life and unleash new ideas and ways of working. A range of exemplars will be on hand to spark ideas and demonstrate possibilities. We can go as simple or as complex as you dare! There will be an opportunity to print or embellish your own papers, so bring plenty of fodder!*

Also bring a sense of ADVENTURE and a willingness to explore the UNKNOWN!

*Bring any of the following: Old or rejected prints or artworks, scraps, off-cuts, or found papers to repurpose. This might include papers such as old maps, gift wrap, craft papers, origami papers, old book pages, brown paper, or textured papers. All-over textures and/or patterns can work well, and papers that are printed on both sides can be very effective. Anything has possibilities!
