Screen Zine

As part of the Little Lost Art festival and supported by Te Kowhai Print Trust, we are offering an amazing FREE workshop opportunity!

Over a weekend you will learn the art of painterly screen-printing to print your own original zine!

A zine is a small, self-published booklet or magazine, made by hand & created for self-expression rather than profit. They are a fun way to share a passion, political opinion or just a bit of whimsy with the world. Historically zines are linked to punk scenes, feminist movements, queer communities, political activism and fan cultures - giving voice to communities that are often silenced, ignored or misrepresented by traditional media. Zines are informal and experimental, they do not need to look polished, their rough, personal style is part of their charm.

In this workshop we will use a hand-painted screen-printing technique as the process for reproduction. All participants will print a minimum of two zines, donating one to be reproduced for the Little Lost Art Festival and the rest are yours to take home and treasure.
