Join the Royal New Zealand Ballet and 100 tamariki from kura and local primary schools from around the Bay of Islands. Artists from RNZB will perform three works from their 2024 repertoire in the first half.
The tamariki will then create a dance work inspired by the children’s novel Hine and the Tohunga Portal, written by Whangarei novelist Ataria Sharman (Ngāti Kura), about a brother and sister who wander into an enchanted forest.
Performers include tamariki from Bay of Islands International Academy, Oromahoe, Kawakawa and Moerewa schools, Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Taumarere and the Northern Dance Academy.
