Welcome to Peekaboo Backyard Eatery — a much-loved Kaitaia spot where mornings start bright, afternoons feel easy, nights carry a social buzz. We’re a family café by day, a vibrant bar after sunset. Think warm timber, green tiles, an open kitchen with a solar-powered copper pizza oven that guests love to watch in action.

Our menu celebrates the Far North. Breakfast runs 8.00–11.30am on weekdays, from 9.00am on weekends. After that you’ll find an all-day selection with house pizzas, stacked burgers, fresh pasta, fish dishes, small plates for sharing, plus a gelato counter and cabinet treats baked in-house. We source locally whenever possible — spray-free produce, Northland meats, artisan breads — so flavours stay fresh, seasonal, honest.

Drinks are a highlight. Barista coffee from local roasters, fruit-forward smoothies, organic soft drinks, a considered wine and beer list, plus a signature cocktail and mocktail menu that spotlights regional makers. From a silky Caramel Espresso Martini to our popular Cloud 9 mocktail, there’s something for every palate, driver, or family table.

Families feel at home here. Kids have space to explore the dedicated playground while adults relax in the sunny garden or at the bar. We host live music, tasting nights, and community gatherings that turn a casual visit into a memorable evening.
