Gjazz5 – Algeria/India Fusion Project taps into a rarely explored area of music fusion between some of the rhythmically richest cultures on this planet, India and Algeria. Project initiator Olivier Holland is on bass and Stephen Thomas on drums. Joining them from overseas is the accomplished world music/jazz expert Djamel Laroussi from Algeria on guitar and vocals, and Manjit Singh, originally from India but residing in Papatoetoe, is the Indian music expert in this mix and well known in New Zealand as tabla player ‘par excellence’.

A mind-bobbling mix of Indian and Algerian rhythms in a framework of world music and jazz. This afternoon will be an event like no other, presenting a musical mix, and celebration of culture, rhythm, friendship and new music.
