Matariki Twilight Ride

Let’s light up the trails for Matariki

Join us at Waitangi Mountain Bike Park for a special whānau-friendly Matariki Twilight Ride — an evening of lights, bikes, kai, music, reflection and winter magic.

Decorate yourself and your bike with battery LED lights, glow gear, reflective fabrics, stars, ribbons, and anything that shines before riding together in a fun, safe, family-friendly area. Our Decoration Station will be open from 4:00pm, with decorations inspired by the whetū of Matariki — a chance for tamariki and whānau to create something meaningful before the ride.

There will be kai, hot drinks, live local music, storytelling, stargazing and time for reflection as we celebrate Matariki together in our own backyard. For confident adult riders with proper bike lights, there will also be an optional night ride on the trails afterwards.
