Matariki Puanga Night Ride

Join us for a night ride under the stars along Pou Herenga Tai Twin Coast Cycle Trail followed by shared stories and kai to celebrate Matariki Puanga.

When: 5.00pm – 7.30pm, Wednesday, 12 July 2023

Where: Ride departs from Pioneer Village, 1A Recreation Road, Kaikohe

We will depart Pioneer Village at 5.00pm and access the cycle trail at Station Road. We will cycle to the tunnel and back, ending our ride at Kaikohe Co-op Dairy Apartments on Station Road. It’s here that we will enjoy a hot drink and kai together as we share stories about Puanga Matariki, the reasons why this time of year is significant to Māori, and the importance of the traditions that take place.

All children under 10 years must be accompanied by an adult.

All participants must bring their own bike and helmet.
