Matariki Film Festival

Whats On

The Matariki Film Festival showcases and celebrates the work of New Zealand’s indigenous creatives.

Encompassing films that have been acted, directed, produced and filmed by our Māori creatives, we have selected films from the archives that showcase some of the best in New Zealand film making, as well as films that have links to or showcase Māori culture. This programme is presented as part of MATARIKI PĒWHAIRANGI 2024.

Puanga Matariki is a special time for all New Zealanders to reflect on our nation’s past, to celebrate our creativity and move forward together into the future.

We wish to thank all of our supportive industry partners including Te Tumu Whakaata Taonga and The New Zealand Film Commission, for assisting us in sourcing some of the films being screened.

Please note the ratings of each film. People attending R Rated films MUST be over the age noted in the rating certification.
