Luscious Mangawhai Cast Glass

GLASS CASTING 101! 1.5 day glass casting workshop in Mangawhai, 3 May (full day) and 10 May (half day) open to experienced and first time learners. No experience is necessary at all for this cast glass workshop. Guided by our experienced facilitator of glass casting in NZ.

Create your own 'Mangawhai leaf cast' using the Kaipara Coast Highway as your inspiration. You will be able to cast your leaf using gaffer lead crystal casting crystal to realise your own individual leaf cast in glass.

Activities: Participants will sculpt a leaf form on the first day and will return on the 10th May to divest their own cast and learn some basic coldworking techniques. This first day 3 May, participans will learn the techniques of investing their model with investment and clean the mould ready to select your glass to be placed into the mould for firing. Exciting.

The workshop is lead by Suan Louie, an accomplished glass artist with over ten years of teaching experience in this medium with excellent final results. The workshop aims to enrich participant's understanding of glass casting and it's many techniques and provide indspiration to continue glass casting in the Mangawhai and Kaipara regions and beyond, through to Northland.

The fee is $220 per person and includes materials except for your clothing and aprons, masks and gloves.

After the half day, there will be an event for a critique of the workshop and it's creations which is catered for for participants and facilitator.
