Only 2 hours north of Auckland, Kiwi North is a 62 acre park with many visitor and educational attractions. Our mission is the preservation and conservation of both natural and social history for the benefit of all, now and in the future.
Here you will find the only captive Kiwi viewing in Northland. Come and learn all about these wonderful animals and why they are so unique as they forage for food in front of you in the Kiwi House. Explore the various displays in the Whangarei Museum, including local taonga Maori, city development, and the natural history of our oceans and forests. See Whangarei’s own remains of the now extinct Moa, taonga from Mount Parihaka, and relics from Whangarei businesses.
Then you can stretch your legs with a walk around the Park. Visit the historic 1886 Clarke Homestead, the original home on the Park, and the wonderfully unique octagonal Oruaiti Chapel and other heritage buildings. There are several vintage restoration clubs here at Kiwi North and they welcome visitors when their members are there.
