Bay of Islands Sailing Week 2025

Bay of Islands Sailing Week 2026 is one of New Zealand’s largest and most respected keelboat regattas, taking place from Tuesday 19 to Friday 23 January 2026 in Opua, Northland. Open to monohulls and multihulls of all sizes, the event attracts sailors from across the country for three days of competitive racing in one of the most scenic sailing venues in the Southern Hemisphere.

Now in its 23rd year, the regatta is run by an incorporated society and supported by a dedicated team of volunteers, local sponsors, and yacht clubs. Races are held across multiple divisions and courses, catering to a wide range of boats—from high-performance yachts to non-spinnaker cruisers.

The event also includes onshore activities, a beach party hosted by Explore Group, daily briefings, prizegivings, and a strong focus on sustainable and safe regatta practices.
