Acclaimed Organist John Wells In Concert

A rare opportunity to hear internationally acclaimed organist Dr. John Wells play the new organ at St. Peter's Anglican Church, Waipu, Northland. The concert is part of the Bream Bay Friends of the Organ winter concert series.

The programme will include favourites such as Bach’s beautiful “Air on a G-string” (Wells’ own arrangement) and Dr. Wells will also perform a set of variations for pedals only, which promises to by an eye-opener, as well as an ear-opener!

A graduate of Cambridge University, John Wells was Organ Scholar at King’s College Chapel, Cambridge. After moving to NZ he worked as a freelance performer, recording artist, broadcaster and composer and gained a doctorate with high distinction. He has given concerts throughout NZ, Australia, UK, USA and Europe and his career encompasses the position of organ tutor and Organist at Auckland University from 1992 to 2012. Later on, as Auckland City Organist, he spearheaded the campaign to rebuild the Town Hall organ.

The concert will include a sub-section featuring singing by Bream Bay children .

Following the concert there will be afternoon tea.

Proceeds from the concert will go to the organ project.
