“There’s alot to put in place to get my business set up. My hui with Emma are always so helpful for working out what my next steps will be and finding out what assistance is available to help me take them." ~ Talisha

When Talisha first contacted Northland Inc, she and her family had recently moved north to the beautiful Ahipara. She had just had her second tamariki and was in the early stages of returning to work after some time off for maternity leave. Although already working on projects for current clients, before promoting her services to her wider community, she was keen to take some time to get her pakihi set up with processes to help her as she grows. Initially she met with Growth Advisor Emma Rankin, to share her business plans and find out what assistance may be available to her.

Together Emma and Talisha worked out an Action Plan which identified areas where she needed to build her business skills and capability.  Emma was able to help her navigate her way through the process of securing funding through the NZTE Business Capability Development Scheme to upskill herself in these areas.

Emma also connected her to a business mentors programme, the local Chamber of Commerce and the Amotai procurement network for Māori and Pasifika businesses.

Emma would like to acknowledge Talisha’s commitment and progress on her business as she knows full well what is takes to be a mum to small tamariki as well as run a business and a household.  “Talisha continues to take positive steps forward with her business since we first connected and it’s such a privilege to tautoko her on her journey. Keep an eye out for this creative wahine and her design work for pakihi around the north going forward”.
